These photos are a small preview of my ongoing personal project of documenting my home town. Holly is a small town with a population around 8,000 located about halfway between Flint and Detroit. Holly was founded in 1865 had has had many high and low points throughout it’s history. It was a victim of the rust belt effect and many of its manufacturing jobs left a long time ago, but the town has been experiencing a bit of a revival thanks to its historic downtown and its active community.
I’m still not quite sure what the end result of this project will be. I’ve gone back and forth between creating an artistic photo-book or creating a history book focused on encouraging tourism.
